Directoire style Chateau
This Chateau was assumed to be designed by the famous French neo-classical architect Victor Louis (Grand Theatre de Bordeaux), in the 18th century and reflects the original style of Louis XVI. Sadly, very few of the original architectural details still remain and in order to return it to its former glory, we began by reinstating the decorative panelling, cornicing and ceiling roses.
To retain the feeling of understated elegance and fulfil the client's wish to create a real ‘wow’ factor, we worked with silk wallpaper specialists, DeGournay to create a Chinoiserie inspired design in the dining room and main salon. Paired with classically inspired furniture pieces, the overall harmonious and classic informality of the scheme provides comfort, beauty and functionality where the family are proud to entertain and where tastes of the past serves as a reminder of France’s rich national history.
