A Chateau in the Vineyards
This important Directoire-style Chateau was built at the end of the 18th Century and is now on the French list of classified sites. Over time, the original Chateau was extended and new architectural styles were added whilst many of the original features, such as the woodwork and panelling, were either removed or destroyed.
The new owners wanted to restore the Chateau's architectural value and create a rustic, masculine, country style in which to entertain important business guests, friends and family. In keeping with the traditional colours widely applied during the 18th century, we used bright colour walls to off-set the dark wooden and cognac leather antique furniture.
Bespoke tables were created for the dining room and the breakfast room and traditional French beds were hand crafted in Ireland. Oil paintings were acquired from galleries in Paris and Washington and a touch of humour was added with vintage French posters.
